Devoleena Bhattacharjee entered the Indian television industry with Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto that was televised on NDTV Imagine; she essayed the character Baani in the show. However, she became famous due to her role of Gopi Modi in Star TV’s Saath Nibhanna Saathiya. Thereafter, she did not take up any other daily shows. Also, over the years, she has undergone a transformation and has tried to break her bahu image. In 2019, she will be seen as one of the housemates in Big Boss Season 13 and is sure to add spunk to the show. Big Boss is the Indian counterpart of the reality television show Big Brother.
Born on 22nd August 1985, Devoleena is a Bengali and, now, settled in Mumbai. She is an accomplished Indian television actress and has received training in Bharatanatyam as well.
She was noticed during her auditions for the dance reality show Dance India Dance 2. Also, she was a contestant on the show that was aired on Zee TV in the year 2010.
In June 2012, she took up the female lead in the show Saath Nibhanna Saathiya, following the ouster of Giaa Manek who was earlier playing the role. Also, in 2014 and 2016, Devoleena was considering leaving the show because of the numerous time leaps. However, she continued with the show. Later, in June 2017, she completed five years of playing the lead role in the show too. Around the same time, she had a backbone surgery due to an injury that happened way back in the year 2013. More so, the show went off air in July 2017 after having a successful run of 7 years.
During June 2018, she was signed on to play the protagonist in the daily soap show and romantic comedy ‘Kuch Naye Rishte’ of Optimus Productions for airing on Colors TV. Devoleena was cast opposite newcomer Pratham Girdhar on the show.
Besides, Devoleena has been part of other television shows that include Kundali Bhagya (Mansi), Laal Ishq (Manorama), Ye Hai Mohabbatein, among others.
