Dwayne Douglas Johnson hails from Hayward, California, US; he was born on May 2, 1972. Johnson is a businessman, producer, actor, and retired professional wrestler.
After a brief stint as a football player, Johnson started training as a professional wrestler. In the year 1996, he signed a contract with the WWE. He made history by being the first African-American world champion to win the first WWE Championship in the year 1998. He also played a prominent role in making the Attitude Era a boom period for the wrestling industry through the years 1990s to 2000s.
The Rock is his ring name that was coined during his eight-year-long association with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
The year 2004 saw him quit the WWE to become a Hollywood actor. However, he came back to the WWE as a part-time wrestler in the year 2011 and continued till the year 2013. Until the year 2019, he went on to make periodic appearances at WWE events.
During his tenure in Hollywood, Johnson’s films have made more than $3.5 billion in North America and $10.5 billion globally. This makes him one of the highest-paid, highest-grossing actors in the world.
Johnson has been in the news for headlining WWE’s flagship pay-per-view event WrestleMania and WWE’s flagship TV shows (SmackDown and Raw), too.
