About Bhumika Chawla
The versatile actress of Indian Cinema is always remembered for her love epic – “Tere Naam” with co-star Salman Khan. Born on 21 August 1978, her birth name was Rachna Chawla. She has changed her name to Bhumika after coming to the Indian film industry. She was born in a typical Punjabi household in New Delhi. She was the daughter of an army officer, and had two siblings also.
Before her entry into films, she was a model and came to Mumbai for better opportunities in the entertainment industry. Prior to working in films she had a successful modeling career and also appeared in various ad films and music videos. She first made her appearance as an actress in the hit- 90’s teenaged show called “Hip Hip Hurray” in Zee TV.
In 2000, she made her debut in South film industry with her first Telugu movie called Yevakudu. It was a hit film and after that she has appeared in various Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bhojpuri and Punjabi movies. Her noteworthy performances in movies such as Badri (2001), Okkadu (2003), Kushi (2001), Missamma (2003), Tere Naam (2003), Run (2004), Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006), Family (2006), Gandhi, My Father (2007), Anasuya (2007), Gangotri ( 2007), Buddy (2013), and many more are such blockbuster movies so far. Gangotri is her first and only Bhojpuri movie which has Amitabh Bacchan as her male lead.
Bhumika Chawla has married her boyfriend cum Yoga teacher Bharat Thakur on 21 October 2007, and the couple had a son born to then in 2014.
